A MN Chiropractor Warns: Don’t Risk Ignoring This

Posted by the Editor  Published in Car Accidents, Chiropractic Tips, General, Health Tips

You’d think anyone injured would know it, right?  This MN Chiropractor has seen the results of enough personal injury accidents to know it isn’t always that simple.

It is possible, and even common, for the victim of a low-speed automobile accident to walk away from the crash and feel only “shaken up,” sensing only relief that nothing is broken.  Attention goes immediately to any damage done to property, filing insurance claims and getting on the road again.

Odd that we often check out the condition of our autos more thoroughly than the state of our own bodies.

Bodies are wonderful things.  They work hard to adjust to shocks and shake off trauma.  They may go for days before finally warning, through pain, that the impact suffered has caused an injury with lasting effects, something the body has tried to, but cannot fully handle on its own.

Obviously, no one but the most foolish stoic would ignore severe pain once it shows.  However, it can be just as dangerous to ignore a body that has just suffered an accident, whether pain is present or not.  Potential neck, shoulder and spine problems can arise as a result of delaying rehabilitation that should have been started immediately after an impact.  Even crashing at a speed of 15 miles an hour can put traumatic stress on muscles and ligaments.

You may have heard conflicting advice regarding how much movement is okay for an accident victim.  You may know someone who seemed to do just fine for a few days, and then suddenly was stopped by severe pain.

How do you know, under those circumstances, what you should do?

The obvious answer is to seek advice and help from someone who understands what your body has been through.  A person walking away from an accident is not necessarily in a position to accurately assess his condition.  There is no need to take the chance that an untreated condition will grow into chronic pain.

Your chiropractor understands personal injury, and can teach you what you need to know to make the safest and most responsible decisions about your body.  You can learn what combinations of adjustment, exercise and therapy will aid healing, and help avoid unnecessary complications.

You’d do as much for your automobile.  You’d better do as much for your body.

If you or a loved one has recently been involved in even a minor accident, don’t put off calling us.  We understand personal injury, and we’re here to help.

A MN Chiropractor Standing for Wellness versus Pain Management

Posted by the Editor  Published in Car Accidents, Chiropractic Tips, General

Along with the DCs, MDs and other healthcare professionals and staff in our office, Dr. Arlen Lieberman is a MN Chiropractor who stands for Wellness.

When you see a chiropractor for a single visit or you embark on a treatment program, there is an important framework from which to project your progress and the overall value of your program.  Some of the important elements of this framework can be illustrated in this way.  Are you going for “pain management”?  Pain maintenance?  Learning to adjust?  Or are you going for a trend of better health and fitness?

For someone in severe pain, possibly having had a personal injury, a physical betterment trend may be too much to consider.  But even a riveted focus on pain can be graduated from, allowing fresh eyes to look toward the goal of optimal health.

More on this, is there a point where the value of a pain medication in certain circumstances crosses a line? A line between a valid if temporary aid in a medical situation, and an ongoing treatment item which is no longer truly helping to improve matters?  Is there a point for a patient with an injury where things will get worse if the “pain management” approach is carried on too long?  Can this be adjudicated by a health professional?

Whatever the state of your health, whatever the condition and age of your body, whatever the injury or stress circumstances, one can start and proactively gain something better, or one can learn to accept and live with it.  If you are working to gain something better, then we are the clinic for you.

With an aggregate of many decades of experience in our staff, we work to better our patients’ health and wellbeing.  So regardless of the state you start in when you enter our office, we look toward your overall health improvement and helping you gain the freedom of being physically fit.  Our many approaches include chiropractic adjustment, trigger point therapy, massage therapy, medical treatment and acupuncture.

Gaining and maintaining  your health is one of those important things in life which can add or subtract years.   But you may not notice the loss or gain until sometime in the future.  For someone proactive about their general betterment, it’s advisable to look ahead (in years) and do the things which maintain that fitness and strengthen it right now – not wait until later.

We are on the side of “ideal wellness” versus “pain suppression” and will gladly discuss and work with you on your own fitness and health goals.  You can always make progress.

Choosing from Among MN Chiropractors and Other Alternative Healthcare Practitioners

Posted by the Editor  Published in Car Accidents, Chiropractic Tips, General, Health Tips

If one were to select a doctor among any MN chiropractors, what would be the criteria for selection?  Trust? Knowledge? Experience?  Education? Insurance company referral?  The doctor is a friend of the family?

There are so many things to consider, it would be good if one had the key to this.  While consulting with a chiropractic office for the answer may be thought as a biased source, take a look and judge for yourself whether we can provide some valuable insight.

First, what is the purpose for being a chiropractic patient?  One who has had a car accident or other physically traumatic stress may have a readily seen reason to go onto a treatment program.  In this same category, an individual with scoliosis, chronic headaches or another condition could have an obvious purpose. On the other hand, pain from some soft tissue injuries has been known to not surface until sometime after the injury.  Thus, it may take a more informed individual to reach out for a treatment program.  Less obvious, someone just needing adjustment would still have a valid and strong reason to engage in a treatment regimen.  In any case, once the reason for treatment is established, one can look for the best doctor and most relevant credentials.

Second, does the doctor take the time and care to understand you and the condition?  This point has communication as its foundation and includes not only the doctor listening, but also the full battery of diagnostics to fully understand what is happening with one’s body.  Start with good, two-way communication and see if the doctor truly understands the condition and goal you have for seeing the chiropractor.

Third could be a realistic program with milestone of progress.  Does the doctor work out a program for you that is doable, with stated objectives to be achieved – and with the desired benefits noted?   This can apply whether one is progressing toward freedom from the pain and consequences of injury, or whether one is simply maintaining a higher state of health.
At our offices, we have treated and worked with patients from newborn and infant, through to almost any age group.  We are known for effective help for sports injuries and car injuries, physical conditions and general maintenance.  We have helped athletes whether amateur or professional, and even Olympians.

As a healthcare center for both traditional and alternative arts, we have a wide range of services and are willing to consult with any individual in their quest to find the ideal chiropractor or other healthcare professional.  Call us, email us, come in and see us.

Why the Best?

Posted by the Editor  Published in Car Accidents, Chiropractic Tips, General, Health Tips

There are many functional reasons one sees a health professional – for example, one may have a sore back for no explained reason.  One may have had an accident recently or long ago.  One may have a health concern which necessitates a professional’s guidance and direction.  One may be simply proactive in getting an annual check up or complete physical examination for health maintenance and early detection of potentially serious issues.  One may simply be interested in increasing bodily comfort and reducing stress.  There can be almost as many reasons as there are individuals who have them.

Beyond the purpose one may have for seeing a health professional, there are the specific requirements and functions the professional fulfills.  And of course, for someone seeking increased good health, restoration of health or stability of health, it is logical that “the best” is what is desired.  An absurd illustration which makes this obvious, might be someone needing a heart transplant but looking for the “best deal” or the lowest price – possibly asking to have a first year intern because it would be “less expensive”.  One angle of the absurdity can be spotlighted by the fact that a life is much more precious than dollars.

Thus, such a person logically seeks the best nutritionist, the best physician, the best chiropractor and massage therapist or whatever field of pro is most appropriate for the circumstance.

Here at Advanced Medial of Twin Cities, we pride ourselves, not only on the diversity of our services, but on the fact that we genuinely care and have built a strong and lasting relationship with our patients and clients.  We feel that the winning combination between patient and healing arts professional is abundant service and a high interchange of information between patient and health care provider.

Our services not only include general medical and physical healing arts, we cover acupuncture, chiropractic and massage therapy and nutrition.  We strive to be a complete health center for our patients.  Even in our injury rehabilitation programs, our focus is always on health achievement and restoration.  We never say, “it can’t be done,” and we work with our patients with all the state-of-the-art healing techniques available to us.

We are dedicated to helping any of our patients at any point on the spectrum of health, from the lowest, such as car accidents or major health issues, to the highest who are the most pro-active in health and fitness and maintaining their physique.  We are willing to speak with anyone on any health related issue and will do our very best for every client or patient.  Give us a call and see.

Top Car Accident Mistakes

Posted by The Doctor  Published in Car Accidents, Health Tips

auto Accident MinneapolisBecause our chiropractic clinic treats many automotive accident patients in Minneapolis there are a few major mistakes that we want to make you aware of in the unfortunate event that you are involved in a car accident.

These are the major mistakes to avoid connected with a car accident

Mistake #1: Not seeing a physician, chiropractor or anyone after an accident.

Even a minor accident can affect your back and muscles adversely. Very often after a minor accident the symptoms don’t appear for days or even weeks. For this reason some people skip seeing any physician.

This can result in physical situations being overlooked until they really flare up, at which point (a) it may take longer to treat them and (b) they are no longer covered by the accident insurance.

A good rule is ALWAYS CONSULT A PHYSICIAN (CHIROPRACTOR OR DOCTOR) AFTER AN ACCIDENT.

Mistake #2: Getting checked out by someone who is not experienced with accident related problems.

A car accident is a very specialized type of injury, there are major and subtle symptoms that a car accident specialist learns to look for and treat to avoid future problems for the patient. Just like you would consult an eye doctor for eye problems you should consult  an accident specialist after a car accident.

At Advanced Medical of Twin Cities we have someone on staff always available for any accident patients.

Mistake #3: Settling your case before consulting a physician.

Your accident insurance entitles you to any physical treatment you need to get back to full health. This includes immediate life threatening medical treatment as well as any chiropractic, and rehabilitation treatment you need.

Sometimes you may get pressured into settling your case too fast, for this reason at times we recommend coming to see a physician before even seeing a layer.

I hope this information helps you avoiding any of those possible problems and most of all we hope you don’t get into any accident but in any case we are here to help you.
