Neck
and Lower Back Pain
Whenever the muscles of ligaments are
overexerted, strained, or sprained, swelling and
pain results. There may be no immediate injury -
pain may come on from simply bending over to
pick up something light! Low back and neck pain
may result from:
- Overexertion of unconditioned muscles
- Tension
- Stress on an unbalanced or misaligned spine
or pelvis
- Arthritic changes
- Postural strain
- Falls
- Trauma or strain due to pregnancy
- Unhealthy spinal discs
Prevention depends upon the strength and balance
of the upper and lower spine. A weak and mis-aligned
spine tends to be more problematic.
Treatment Plan:
- Evaluation and examination by a medical and
chiropractic doctor.
- Reduction of the swelling and muscle spasm
by using physical therapy modalities (electrical
muscle stimulation, ultrasound, ice, etc.).
- Re-balancing and re-aligning the upper and
lower spine with chiropractic adjustments/joint
mobilization.
- Specialized rehabilitation program to
strengthen and therefore stabilize the neck and
low back. |
